On Monday July 9, 2012, we got to the Wright Brothers' National Memorial at 4:20PM and they were scheduled to close at 5:00PM. The first thing we did was to drive straight to the monument. We had to walk uphill quite a ways. There was a young girl coming down and she suggested that we rest every once in a while. Again, this advice was coming from a young person. The weather was in the 90 degree range. Coming down as you can imagine was much easier. We also saw the December 17, 1903 sculpture of the airplane. We never made it into the visitor's center where they showed movies, etc.
Did you know? The Wright Brothers' had a small business in Dayton, Ohio in the early 1890s? In 1892, they opened a bicycle shop. This was considered a respectable business, however they nurtured a dream. At the time, a dream of flying was not considered respectable.
